INTOSAI’s Organization of Latin American and Caribbean Supreme Audit Institutions (OLACEFS) has a Regional Working Group on Environmental Auditing (RWGEA) known as the Environmental Special Technical Committee, which was created in November 1998 during the 8th General Assembly of the OLACEFS. The Committee first met in May 1999 and the Brazilian Court of Audit has been co-ordinating the Committee since November 2000. As of April 2009 the Chair of the Committee is the Office of the Auditor General of Argentina. The Committee’s main mission is to develop studies and documents that support the work of SAIs in the area of environmental management. The Committee also intends to offer long-distance training on environmental auditing.
