Celebrating 30 Years of INTOSAI WGEA

In 2022, the INTOSAI WGEA is celebrating its 30th anniversary and our close partner United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is celebrating its 50th anniversary. This year also marks the 30th Anniversary of the Rio Conference. To celebrate these anniversaries, we have released a short introductory video and a bulletin about the INTOSAI WGEA.  

The video and bulletin aim to introduce the work of the INTOSAI WGEA and how environmental auditing and Supreme Audit Institutions can have a positive impact on the environment. Global cooperation and partnerships are as important as ever since environmental issues do not respect country borders. Climate change, biodiversity loss, and waste pollution are examples of our current environmental challenges.  

Therefore, it is important that public sector budgets respond to these threats in economic, efficient, and effective manner, and this is where the Supreme Audit Institutions and environmental auditing have a crucial role to play.
