In the work of the INTOSAI WGEA, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have been cross-cutting theme. Under the chairmanship of SAI Finland, the WGEA has concentrated in its work on the environmental SDGs and policy coherence between goals and targets. Especially, the WGEA has focused on SDG 13, Climate Action.
In reference to the UN High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) in New York last month and the Finnish voluntary national review reporting on the progress towards the SDGs, the INTOSAI WGEA and SAI Finland produced a video outlining the WGEA's activities on the SDGs. Secretary General of the WGEA, Vivi Niemenmaa, also wrote on the blog of SAI Finland on the shortcomings of reporting on sustainability development in the Finnish context, while also highlighting the areas where the INTOSAI WGEA has contributed in the framework of the SDGs. The WGEA holds an extensive bank on guidelines and audits, which can help auditors in auditing the SDGs from an environmental perspective. Please upload your audits in the WGEA Audit Database, so that they can help other auditors discover best practices.
The INTOSAI Working Group on Environmental Auditing (WGEA) aims to increase the expertise in environmental auditing and to enhance environmental governance with high-quality contribution and visibility by both members of the Working Group and non–member SAIs. Currently the INTOSAI WGEA consists of 86 member countries.
